Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We'll discuss your reasons for seeking counselling, your goals, and any concerns you may have. This helps us tailor our approach to best support your needs in a safe and confidential environment.
Individual sessions typically last about 50 minutes. The number of sessions varies depending on your individual needs and goals. Some clients find a few sessions helpful, while others may benefit from ongoing support.
Yes, confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of our practice. Everything discussed in your sessions remains private, except in rare circumstances where disclosure is required by law (e.g., risk of harm to self or others).
Counsellors practicing with Brave Minds must be registered with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and have, at a minimum, completed a graduate degree and appropriate postgraduate qualifications. They adhere to strict guidelines regarding supervision and ongoing professional development, including certified training in evidence-based psychotherapeutic approaches. If you require more information regarding these differences when choosing a practitioner, please do not hesitate to phone one of our friendly receptionists on 07 4910 8777 or 0432 367 467.
Yes, we work with all age ranges from 5 years and upwards.
While both psychologists and counsellors utilise the same evidence-based therapeutic approaches, they have taken different educational pathways and have achieved different levels of recognition as providers of government (Medicare) subsidised mental health care services. For this reason,
counsellors’ fees are often lower, assuring an equitable out-of-pocket expense regardless of which type of practitioner you choose.
You can book an appointment by contacting us via phone, email, or through our websites contact form. We'll assist you in scheduling a session at a convenient time.
We request at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows us to offer the time slot to another client. Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a fee.
